When Dreams End

hopes
and
dreams

two hearts
two lives

commitments
::
plans
begin

months
weeks
days

anticipation
builds

excitement
grows

then
one
heart changes

the other
shatters

the big day
never happens

wishing
 the hurt
to disappear
and
the heart
to mend
