Non-Bloggers Don't Get It

 ::

there are two groups of people

bloggers
and
non-bloggers

and ne'er the two shall meet

when i tell a non-blogger that i blog
i get a weird look
something akin to stepping off a space ship

they don't know how to react
 or what questions to ask
so it normally ends up with them saying something like
oh really
and quickly moving on to another topic

on the rare occasion
a non-blogger does ask me what i blog about
they are still unsure of where to go with it
and the conversation ends

no interest whatsoever

not once
have i ever had a non-blogger
say they'd like to see my blog

so
i've come to the conclusion
the two groups will never meet

but what i am glad to say
to all my blog peeps
is that my world has become bigger
from meeting creative people like you
who live all over the globe

without blogging
that would never have happened

we have become a family of friends
and although we may never have met in person
i can easily say
that i have come to know many of you
as much as, if not more than
some non-bloggers i know

those non-bloggers are totally missing out!

 ::

and a big thank-you
goes out to Tracey @
for her beautiful "Iced Blue" texture
i used for today's image!

  1. This is so recognizable, and I agree that Non-bloggers are missing out! Your image is beautiful, great texture.

  3. You made a great point that I have experienced as well....They just don't know what they are missing......

I love your processing on this shot; the blue texture just sets it off....So pretty....

  4. I know exactly what you mean! It is a rare person who ever asks 'oh what do you blog about'. They just don't know what to ask or where to go with the conversation. Most times it is the same with photography. Love your image today!

  5. I so understand what you say! People look at me funny when I say I blog (although it has been a while since I have posted anything). They just don't get it and like you, they never, ever ask to see it. Love your shot and processing!

  6. You are so right about that. I have had that look and even the question "why bother?" This from someone who announces "busy day at work" or "more snow today" on Facebook. I am very grateful for the hundreds of folks I encounter online who don't need to ask. Great post, Jill.

  7. Isn't that just the TRUTH?!?!
It's like having our own secret planet.
    I think it's beautiful here....I wouldn't go
    back to the before.
thanks for all the yumminess you share,

  8. Yes, I do get a rather questionable look when I say I blog. But I must admit quite a few have asked me for my blog address, which always surprises me. And you are so right, friends across the universe that I would never have had prior to blogging. It's been a grand experience.

  9. Yay! SO glad you used it and liked it! Love how it turned out here!

And you are totally right about this. I have told people this before and if they even know what a blog is they don't even care what I blog about. Excpet for my dental hygienist. She asks me every time if I am still blogging, but still has yet to ever see it! LOL.

  10. I couldn't agree with you more. Non-bloggers just don't get it and truly are missing out on something special. Love your photo and edit. Happy Tuesday!

  11. SO true ... even my dearest bff has no interest in my blog .. and none of my non blogging friends 'get' how tight a community blogging is ... btw .. that photo is GORGEOUS

  12. Right on, sister. If someone comments on my camera gear and asks if I publish my work anywhere, I tell them about my blog, but otherwise, I usually avoid that subject. It's not for everyone, I guess!

  13. Yeah, I totally agree with you. I feel weird even saying the "blog" around my parents. I love that photo, simply beautiful.

  19. When Moannie first announced she had cancer, I went to work crying and told the women I work with about her...and that she had a blog and I blog, yada, yada, yada....and not one ever asked the name of Moannie's blog (I talked about the wonderful stories she had told of her life...and many of these women read books constantly...can't take a break without breaking out a romance novel)....and not one ever asked the name of my blog. I totally understand what you are saying here...been there, done that! I, too, am so thankful for all the wonderful, kind, intelligent (so much more than I),world-traveled women I have met on these blogs. I have learned so much from all of them and thank God that He put them in my life...and I still miss Moannie!

  20. Congratulations on your well-deserved POTW. Somebody asked me the other day if I was an author.
"Only of a blog," I said.
"Well then, you're an author!" he said.
    I felt like a star.

  22. Nice to read you, came from Hilary's POTW and glad I did. My Chiropractor/friend always asks me how my imaginary playmates are? referring to my bloggy buddys. You're right......they don't get it. Contratulations on POTW, great post. Oma Linda

  27. I came over from "Smitten Image" to say congrats on being post of the week! I totally agree about non-bloggers. Usually I get this when I say I blog: "Oh, I couldn't do that, I wouldn't have anything to write about".(that's never stopped me!) Also, I've quit worrying that I have to qualify blog friends from "real" friends. Frankly, they are real and really more friendly than real friends..huh?
