A Stranger to these Parts

he was a stranger to these parts
::
its muted colors
unlike the bold yellows
and contrasting blacks
seen throughout summer
::
but standing out
in its own
quiet
unassuming
way
::
alit
on a delicate branch
::
camouflaged by
various shades
of lavender
::
wisps
of tiger stripes
peeking through
::
i watched as it switched
from one feeding cup
to another
::
then,
as quickly as it appeared
it was gone
::
i wonder
if the likes of it
will ever come again
